Mission StatementTo energetically and youthfully practice the traditional teachings of Grand Master Dennis Lewis and Lewis Institute of Tae Park Tae Kwon Do Chung Do Kwan and to involve all youth into various programs, activities, etc., and to always keep unified the principles being taught by and in Lewis Institute and for all youth to strive, establish, and achieve the utmost in order to help make a better and productive society all the way through life.

2024
Youth Group Helps After Hurricane Helene
The Lewis Institute Youth Group Organization has once again stepped up to help out in its community. On September 26, 2024, Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida as a Category 4 hurricane. Helene weakened as it moved north and was downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone over Tennessee on September 27. It stalled over our state before dissipating on September 29. Helene’s fast motion caused catastrophic rainfall triggering flooding and spawning numerous tornadoes in its path- particularly in western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee and Southwestern Virginia.
The youth group was able to send about 30 cases of water, toilet paper, diapers, baby wipes, flashlights, and batteries to help in relief efforts. Master Betty Henderson, the Youth Group Coordinator, was able to work with the Union City Walmart to have the needed supplies delivered to a drop off location in Union City, TN. On October 4, volunteers from the area left for East Tennessee to aid in the disaster recovery and relief and deliver needed supplies for our fellow Americans.

On August, 17, 2024, The Lewis Institute Youth Group delivered their collected donations of toilet paper, bleach, body wash, and Lysol disinfectant spray to Mrs. Jody O'Neill and A New Beginning for Women and Children.
A New Beginning for Women and Children is an organization that helps women and children start over after different trials they have faced in their lives. Students delivering the donation included Youth Group President Anna McGowan, Vice President Zavery Gore, Assistant Secretary Aubrey Harris, as well as Youth Group Members Andrew Nichols and Na'Kya Gore.

Youth Group Collecting Cleaning Supplies
Lewis Institute Mid South’s Youth group helps different organizations every year. Our first contributions will be to A New Beginning for Women and Children. This organization helps women and children start over from different trials they have faced. We are specifically asking for donations of toilet paper, bleach, body wash, and Lysol disinfectant spray. The brand of these items does not matter. Any donations are greatly appreciated. Items will be collected until the end of July 2024.
Clothing is NOT needed as there isn't room for it.

Lewis Institute Youth Gathers food donations

The Youth Group collected food donations to help support Reelfoot Rural Ministries. Items needed were canned food, ready to eat meats, noodles, and any nonperishable items. Donations were brought to the Seminar on April 7, 2023 in Paducah, KY.

In October of 2019, Lewis Institute Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association donated items and letters to Hugs.
The HUGS Project collects goods, utensils, and other items to send to our service men and woman who help protect us and help protect our freedom and way of life. Also, each student and parent wrote a personalized letter of support and thanks to our military personnel. The Lewis Institute Youth Group along with did an outstanding job for this event! |
Lewis Institute Donates to Carl Perkins Civic Center in Jackson, Tennessee

In May 2019, Lewis Institute Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association donated stuffed animals to The Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. These stuffed animals are for the children who come to the center for abuse or neglect. These may be the only real toys these children have. They show them a sense of relief and comfort on their journey to a happier life.

2018
Lewis Institute Donates to RIFA
In November and December of 2018, Lewis Institute Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association donated canned goods to RIFA of Jackson, TN. RIFA helps the over 12,000 people in the Jackson community who battle with hunger each and every day.
This year, our Youth Group wanted to reach out and help for the Christmas season.

Lewis Institute Donates to Toys for Tots

In November 2018, Lewis Institute Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association donated toys to Toys for Tots.
Toys for Tots is a program by the Marines that helps get toys to children at Christmas time whose families could not otherwise afford to get presents to them. The Youth Group loved doing this donation because they said it made them feel good to be able to help kids just like them, who just might not be as fortunate.

Demo Team at the 2018 Korean Festival
Lewis Institute Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do National Demonstration Team recently did a demonstration for The Korean Festival Annual New Year Event. This year is "The Year Of The Pig." There were several dignitaries, politicians, and honored guests that were present at this event.
Everyone was very happy and appreciative of the demonstration. This marks the 3rd year that Lewis Institute has been asked to attend this event.

Lewis Institute Donates to The Ronald McDonald House

In December 2014, Lewis Institute Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association recently donated various goods, foods, and other articles to The Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House supplies parents and relatives of sick children and individuals with a place to stay when children are in the hospital for an extended period of time.

Lewis Institute supports "Nate's Wish"

Also in December 2014, students, parents, instructors, family, and friends recently came together and donated over 100 blankets for Nate's Wish. Nate's Wish was created to provide encouragement to children newly diagnosed with cancer. Nate died at the age of 10 with cancer, and his wish was to help children from all walks of life to have backpacks with blankets and many other various articles for sick children. Lewis Institute Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association Youth Group donated the blankets for this great and worthy cause. For more information about Nate's Wish visit www.nateswish.com.

Lewis Institute gives to Children's Hospitals
In December 2013, Lewis Institute Youth Group collected toys and crafts for St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN, Le Bonheur's Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN, and Nate's Wish in Nashville, TN. The Group was successful in collecting and donating over $3,000 worth of toys and craft items to the three organizations.

In December 2013, The Lewis Institute Youth Group recently collected over 100 fleece blankets for Nate’s Wish, a local foundation dedicated to providing comfort items to children newly diagnosed with cancer to assist in their transition from home to hospital.The youth group would like to thank those who generously donated to this worthy cause.
