On April 20, 2024, a Lewis Institute Mid-South TKD Organization Seminar was held in Tiptonville, TN at Master Connie Elam's dojang. Students had the opportunity to learn from 8th Dan Grand Master Dennis Lewis and other 4th and 5th Dan Master Instructors. Sessions taught covered basic techniques, basic kicking, target work, one-step sparring, sparring, and forms. This was a fundraiser event, and all students benefited from the Grand Master and Masters teachings.
Lewis Institute/Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association recently hosted a major Tae Kwon Do event. The event took place in Tiptonville, Tennessee on July 22, 2023. There were about ten 4th & 5th Dan Master Instructors and over 150 Master Instructors, Head Instructors, Assistant Instructors, students, families & friends from the states of Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Florida and Michigan present at this event.
The event consisted of a Tae Kwon Do Rules and Referee Class Course. This course was conducted by National and International World Tae Kwon Do Champion 5th Dan Master Lemon Williams and 5th Dan Master Instructor Dr. Rachel Harshbarger. They both traveled from Michigan to conduct this great event.
The event was organized, directed and hosted by Grand Master Instructor 8th Degree Black-Belt Dennis Lewis. Grand Master Lewis is President & Founder of Lewis Institute Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association. After the seminar there was Color-Belt testing. There were also about 10 students that had a Black-Belt Proof Of Skills Testing to determine if they are worthy for Black-Belt Testing at a later date. After the event the students had a dinner and party to celebrate Grand Master Lewis's Birthday. The event was a huge success.

Head Instructor Receives Academic Awards
Marcus King, Third Dan Head Instructor of Lewis Institute in Anniston, AL, has recently been honored by Gadsden State Community College. Mr. King will graduate from GSCC on May 5, 2022, with a double major in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. He received three awards at Gadsden's awards ceremony. Mr. King was awarded the Outstanding Achievement and Student Success Award, the Outstanding Student in Electronic Engineering Award, and the President's Cup Technology Division Award. This award is the highest award presented at GSCC. One criterion to qualify for this award is community service. Teaching taekwondo to the community helped qualify him for this award. Mr. King is thankful to Junior Grandmaster Dennis Lewis, Grandmaster Park, Lewis Institute of Mid-South Taekwondo, and Tae Park Taekwondo for helping him achieve this award and for the difference they have made in his life. Mr. King has also been chosen to be one of the speakers at his upcoming graduation on May 5, 2022. Mr. King contributes his perfect attendance and having maintained a 4.0 GPA to the discipline he acquired through taekwondo. Congratulations, Mr. Marcus King!

Several Masters, Senior Masters, Junior Grand Masters and Grand Masters from around the country donated a total of $5,890.00. Junior Grand Master Lewis made the donation on behalf of Lewis Institute Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association, Tae Park Tae Kwon Do and World Class Tae Kwon Do. Junior Grand Master Lewis presented the donation to Mr. Steven Elder Executive Director of the Mayfield Community Relief Fund.

It is also about helping those who are in need and being a positive force in the community. Junior Grand Master Lewis has practiced Traditional Tae Kwon Do under his Instructor Grand Master Tae Zee Park for almost 45 years. Junior Grand Master Lewis has several schools and locations in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama.
Accompanying Junior Grand Master Lewis is 5th Dan Black-Belt Master Instructor Betty Henderson and local Mayfield, Kentucky native 3rd Dan Black-Belt Mr. Matthew Ballew. Mr. Ballew has worked on several projects helping the tornado victims in Mayfield and the surrounding areas. Mr. Ballew practices Tae Kwon Do at the local Mayfield Y.M.C.A. under 5th Dan Black-Belt Master Instructor Terry Warmath.

The judges were Junior Grand Master Dennis Lewis, Master Terry Warmath, Master Betty Henderson, Master Robert Jones, and Master Terry King. The testing was hosted by Head Instructor 3rd Dan Black-Belt Mrs. Tammy Singleton.
On October 2nd, 2021, Lewis Institute Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association had color-belt testing at The Houston Levee Community Center in Memphis, Tennessee. The judges were Junior Grand Master Dennis Lewis and Master Robert Jones. Accompanying Junior Grand Master Lewis and Master Jones were 3rd Dan Black-Belts Mr. Daniel Arguera and Mr. Christopher Bell. The Head Instructor for the Memphis, Tennessee Location is 3rd Dan Black-Belt Mr. Mark Land.
On September 30th, 2021, Lewis Institute Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association recently had color-belt testing at the Martin Location in Martin, Tennessee. The judges were Junior Grand Master Dennis Lewis, Master Terry Warmath, Master Betty Henderson, Master Robert Jones, and Master Terry King. The testing was hosted by Head Instructor 3rd Dan Black-Belt Ms. Amanda Spicer.
On Saturday May 15th, 2021, Lewis Institute Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association hosted 1 of 2 testing that were scheduled for the day. The 1st testing took place in Memphis, Tennessee, U.S.A. Each year, during the Lourdes Hospital Service Awards Banquet, a leader is recognized who exemplifies the values of servant leadership. Nominated by peers, this award is the highest recognition for a member of the Lourdes leadership team. Congratulations to Darrell New, the recipient of the 2014 Sr. Mary Eleanor Award. Darrell New is a High Red Belt, and he is a student of 5th Dan Master Instructor Terry Warmath.
Junior Grand Master Dennis Lewis Gives Basic Self-Defense Class
Junior Grand Master Instructor Dennis Lewis and Master Instructor Terry Warmath recently gave a basic self-defense class for some members of Mr. Marcus King's Church in Alabama. The class was focused on knowing your surroundings, using common sense, and understanding basic vital points used in self-defense. Mr. King's church has been very supportive of Lewis Institute Tae Park Tae Kwon Do since Mr. King's classes started in August of 2013. Everyone was very interested, and they were shown basic life saving techniques that anyone of any age can do.

Junior Grand Master Instructor Dennis Lewis recently traveled to the state of Alabama at the request of Mr. Marcus King, Jr.
King is one of Junior Grand Master Lewis's students, and he recently opened a branch of Lewis Institute Tae Park Tae Kwon Do in Anniston, Alabama. The classes are being taught at The Anniston Aquatic & Fitness Center. The facility is part of the Fort McClellan Army Base, and it is affiliated with The Homeland Security of the United States of America.
Junior Grand Master Lewis was very impressed with the students dedication, technique, and attitude.

Award Presented to Dr. Brad Mutchler
Dr. Brad Mutchler was recently honored with the Distinguished Veteran of 2013 Award. Dr. Mutchler served overseas from 1966-1967, and he also served in Desert Storm in 1991. The dinner and ceremony was held in Paducah, Kentucky. There were several officials present along with the media. The event was attended by Dr. Mutchler's Instructor Charles Caldwell and Kwan Jung Nim Junior Grand Master Dennis Lewis.

Thank You Gift Presented to Junior Grand Master Lewis
On September 28, 2013, Junior Grand Master Lewis's students surprised him with a Thank You Poster for his hard work and dedication in preparing everyone for the State Games Of America that was recently held in Harrisburg/Hershey, Pennsylvania.

2013 State Games of America
Students from Lewis Institute Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association recently traveled to Hershey/Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to compete in The National Congress Of State Games Of America 2013. There were 16 students who won roughly 30 medals in Forms, Sparring, Power Breaking, and Creative Breaking. Also, Master Terry Warmath, Master Terry King, Master Betty Henderson, and Master Dr. Said Nabhan served as coaches at the tournament. The group was lead by Junior Grand Master Instructor Dennis Lewis.
Lewis Institute Visit to Knoxville
Junior Grand Master Instructor Dennis Lewis, Master Terry Warmath, Master Terry King, and Master Betty Henderson along with students from Lewis Institute Tae Park Tae Kwon Do Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association recently traveled to Knoxville, Tennessee to judge testing for East Tennessee Master Instructor Bruce Park Jr. Junior Grand Master Lewis also taught a seminar for Master Bruce Park Jr.'s students.
